How the context filter works
The explorer compares each jurisdiction against two U.S. reference values: 611.3 minutes of all-event SAIDI in 2024 and 18.16¢/kWh for year-to-date residential electricity prices through June 2026. The four contexts simply indicate which side of those two benchmarks a state falls on. They are not a composite resilience score.
Why “without major events” matters
The difference between all-event SAIDI and SAIDI without major events is a useful way to see how much extreme events changed the annual result. We calculate that difference directly from the two EIA-published SAIDI columns; EIA does not label our derived difference as a separate official metric.
Limits of statewide data
These are statewide averages across reporting utilities, not household-level forecasts or utility-bill quotes. Reliability can differ substantially by utility territory, feeder and local weather exposure, while actual electricity tariffs can differ from state averages.
