How to read the comparison

Capacity tells you how much energy is stored. Continuous AC output tells you the maximum steady load the inverter is rated to supply. Those are different constraints: a large battery can still have insufficient inverter power, and a high-output inverter does not make a small battery last longer.

Wh per pound is a portability metric, not a quality score. A heavy home-backup unit may intentionally trade energy density for larger inverters, wheels, expansion hardware or 120/240V capability. Solar ratio compares nominal capacity with the maximum published solar input; it is an idealized comparison, not a real recharge-time promise.

Standardized runtime assumption

The runtime estimate uses nominal battery capacity × your usable-energy percentage ÷ load watts. Keeping the load and efficiency assumption identical lets you compare battery size on a consistent basis, but it does not reproduce model-specific inverter efficiency, thermal behavior or low-load idle consumption.

What to verify before buying

After narrowing the field, verify outlet types, surge behavior, charging voltage/current limits, expansion compatibility, warranty terms and the current manufacturer manual. For motor loads such as refrigerators, pumps and furnaces, startup requirements remain separate from the energy calculation shown here.
