How to size it
- Start with 2.0kWh nominal battery capacity.
- Adjust for charging efficiency.
- Multiply by your electricity rate.
- Multiply by monthly equivalent full charges for a recurring-cost estimate.
At 18.16¢/kWh and 90% efficiency, a full nominal refill costs about $0.40. Under the same assumptions the state-average range is roughly $0.27 in North Dakota to $1.02 in Hawaii.

- Assuming state averages equal local tariffs.
The energy to refill a 2kWh station is cheap; the more important economics are capital cost, cycling frequency, battery degradation and what the backup system replaces.
Use your actual tariff when possible
State averages are useful for comparison, but the best charging-cost estimate comes from your own cents-per-kWh rate, the percentage of battery being restored and a realistic charging-efficiency assumption.
